Sex Therapy, Old Wives Tales, Adult Literature et al
Courting controversy & offence wherever possible, these bands provide the sonic ammunition for an imploding society. The Senegalese Sex Tapes provided the earliest opportunities for collaboration and all-out madness. Old Wives Tales left us with the epic Pig Shit, a sample of which is offered below.
Next up we have the unpopular Sex Therapy with their wild Sprinkle-inspired Shaven Ravers. What a line-up! Sadly, the multitrack tapes have been lost and this is the only available mix. Still, treasure is treasure.
Flagell Tintagel - drums
Dip Stix - vocals
Stiff Nickas - guitars
Em Palin - bass
Polly Parazone & Moaner Liza - backing vocals
From heavy rock-based stuff (with a rave-flavoured backing) to chilled night-club vibes, nothing was out of their clutches of Adult Literature. Totally fearless they attacked and mangled any genre they encountered. Unfortunately, they didn’t hang around for long. Here’s their take on DJ culture. Their version of Fuck was mooted as a vinyl bootleg, but that’s dubious since these tracks have only recently been mastered. Here’s a sanitised mix below.
Then there was Mental Block tearing up the sessions with the rock-electro approach of Invasion Of The Frog-Fuckers, a crazy twist on sci-fi. Governments queue up to greet the First Encounters but they’re too small to see. Moreover, their only interest is in frogs. Magnificent.
